Admission requirements
The course of study in Computer Science and IT Management at Schmalkalden University is aimed at students who already have a degree in an information science-related field and want to expand their knowledge and career opportunities.

With this Master's programme at the state-run University of Schmalkalden, you will qualify across disciplines for leadership positions in IT management. In just 5 semesters of regular study time, you will gain up-to-date systemic knowledge about new developments in the IT sector and also acquire knowledge in areas such as project management, IT law, and data protection in companies. Within 5 semesters of regular study time, you will earn 90 ECTS.

On-Site Sessions and Practical Experience
What sets the distance learning programme at the University of Schmalkalden apart are the intensive on-site sessions and block seminars in Schmalkalden (Thuringia) or at the Dual University Campus in Gera-Eisenach. During these on-site sessions, you can exchange ideas with your fellow students and teachers on the learning content.
Over the course of the first 4 semesters, you will complete a total of 13 on-site sessions. The sessions are organized to be easily manageable alongside a full-time job – typically lasting 3-5 days including weekends.
If you have acquired 180 ECTS in your first degree, you can earn the additional required 30 ECTS through an accompanying internship. For example, you can complete the internship at your company.
Tuition Fees
At the University of Schmalkalden, you pay tuition fees for the part-time study programme semester by semester, always at the beginning of the semester. The tuition fees for the Master's in Computer Science and IT Management amount to 2460€ per semester.
