With this master's program at the State University of Schmalkalden, you will qualify for management positions in the industry in an interdisciplinary manner. In just 5 semesters of regular study time, you will intensively deal with topics such as system theory, material testing, project management, and business administration. In addition, you can choose to specialize in automation technology, electronics, or energy technology. Within 5 semesters of regular study time, you will earn 90 ECTS credits.
The study program is structured as follows:

- 2nd Semester: Commercial Law, Business Administration, Innovation Management, Project Management

In the 4th semester, you choose your 2 specializations from a total of 3 specialization areas.
In the Automation Technology elective area, you complete the following modules: Drive Technology, Industrial Image Processing. In the Electronics elective area, you complete the following modules: Realization Technologies, Electromagnetic Compatibility. In the Energy Technology elective area, you complete the following modules: Maintenance of Electrical Energy Systems, Power Quality.
On-Site Sessions and Practical Experience
What makes the distance learning program at the University of Schmalkalden special are the intensive on-site sessions and block seminars in Schmalkalden (Thuringia) or at the campus of the Dual University of Gera-Eisenach in Gera. During the on-site sessions, you can exchange information on the learning content with your classmates and teachers.
Over the course of the first 4 semesters, you will complete a total of 14 on-site sessions. The on-site sessions are organized in a way that allows them to be easily completed alongside work - the events usually take place over a period of 3-4 days including the weekend.
If you have obtained 180 ECTS credits in your first degree, you can acquire the additional 30 ECTS credits through an accompanying internship. You can complete the internship, for example, in your own company.
Tuition Fees
At the University of Schmalkalden, you pay tuition fees for the part-time study program on a semester basis, always at the beginning of the semester. The tuition fees for the Master's in Computer Science and IT Management amount to 2560,- euros per semester.
