Admission requirements
Enrolment requirement for the Master of Arts degree programme is a completed course of study at a university within the scope of the University Framework Act (HRG) with a standard period of study of at least six semesters, or a course of study recognised as equivalent by a competent public authority outside the scope of the HRG.
Enrolment requirements for the Master's programme in European History - Epochs, Transformations, Interconnections are the university degrees listed above with a good degree in a related subject that has provided the basic prerequisites for further scientific education. Related subjects are all full-fledged major subjects from the field of humanities, cultural and social sciences. A good degree is generally considered to be awarded when the overall grade or the grade of the final thesis is 2.49 or better, corresponding to the upper half of grade segment C (cf. § 16 para. 4).
Basic requirements are also met if study and examination achievements amounting to 16 semester hours per week from the Bachelor's programme in Cultural Studies at the FernUniversität or from history and literature programmes are proven.
In the case of a non-related course of study, the basic requirements for the Master's programme in European History - Epochs, Transformations, Interconnections can be fulfilled by providing study and examination achievements of 16 semester hours per week from history and literary studies programmes or by successfully completing modules G2 and L3 of the Bachelor's degree in Cultural Studies with a focus on History, Literary Studies, Philosophy within the framework of the Academic Studies.
Alternatively, the courses offered by the two participating subjects in the Academic Studies can be taken to fulfil the 16 semester hours per week requirement.

The course "History of Europe - Periods, Transformations, Interconnections" is part of the Master of Arts program at the FernUniversität in Hagen. It spans 4 semesters and is offered on a part-time basis. The classes take place in Hagen and are conducted in German.
Within the course, the various periods of European history are explored. Special attention is given to the transformations and interconnections within Europe. Students will acquire a solid knowledge of the historical developments and connections on the European continent.
