The Bachelor Photo & Film (B.A.) programme at the Fachhochschule des Mittelstands is aimed at anyone who has a passion for photography and moving images and wants to combine these skills in a cross-media education. The target group includes people who desire a practice-oriented, creative and at the same time entrepreneurial education – both for positions in media content production as well as in consulting, conception and marketing in media companies, agencies, businesses, and in the social media and online marketing environment. The programme is especially suitable for you if you intend to establish yourself as a photo or video professional or are looking for a solid foundation for work in marketing and communication departments.

Admission requirements – Who can be admitted?

  • General university entrance qualification (Abitur) or equivalent proof of university entrance eligibility
  • Advanced technical college entrance qualification (Fachhochschulreife)
  • Professionally qualified applicants with a relevant professional qualification and at least three years of subject-related professional experience (e.g. after two years of vocational training in a relevant field)
  • Qualifications as a master craftsman or craftswoman (e.g. master craftsman), state-certified technicians, business economists (e.g. IHK, craft trade), specialists, business specialists or graduates of two-year technical college courses
  • Special regulation for unrelated vocational training: examination of entrance eligibility according to NRW state law, possibly with an additional entrance examination

As a private, state-recognised university of applied sciences, the Fachhochschule des Mittelstands automatically accepts the same admission requirements as public universities of applied sciences or universities in Germany.
Note: In the case of specific professional pre-qualifications, accreditation of modules may be possible (e.g. with completed vocational training in the field of photography or film).
