  • Subject-specific university entrance qualification in a suitable subject area or in the specified federal state
  • Alternatively possible: Completed vocational training of at least two years plus at least two years of full-time professional experience in a related field and passing a subject-specific university entrance examination
  • Another option: Completed master craftsman’s examination or a comparable advanced training with at least 400 hours (e.g. as a specialist or technician) plus subject-specific university entrance examination
  • Access is also possible with a secondary school leaving certificate and a relevant vocational training of at least three years (final grade at least 2.5); in this case, initial admission is granted with a study agreement and the requirement to achieve at least 30 credit points (CP) in the first year of study. If the final grade is lower, an additional university entrance examination is required.
  • A Numerus Clausus (NC) is not required; the course is NC-free.
  • Prior achievements from previous studies or training may be credited where applicable.

Personal requirements include motivation and discipline for independent learning in distance education. An interest in psychological and communicative issues, analytical thinking, openness to intercultural topics, as well as good written and oral communication skills are advantageous. Knowledge of English is helpful, as some modules are taught in English. For a successful course of study, basic digital skills are also necessary.

The distance learning course is fully organised online and allows a flexible start on the 1st of any month. You choose between three time models:

You complete the modules through self-study on the online campus studynet. Digital study magazines (Studymags), teaching videos, e-books, academic articles and multimedia exercises are available there. All materials can also be downloaded as PDFs and, if desired, ordered as printed booklets for a fee.

Examinations take place in flexible formats:

  • Online written exams (also possible as open-book exams)
  • Written assignments
  • Presentations or oral reports (also virtual)
  • Project work and empirical research projects

Most examinations are held online. Occasionally, on-site examinations may be necessary; dates are announced well in advance and kept to a minimum.
