Admission: What formal requirements do you need?

You can gain admission to the distance learning programme in Business Psychology, B.Sc., via several routes:

  • With Abitur: General university entrance qualification entitles you to direct admission.
  • With Fachhochschulreife: Technical secondary school certificate or subject-specific university entrance qualification in the relevant field, possibly restricted to certain federal states.
  • With master craftsman examination / advanced training: A completed master craftsman examination or a state-recognised advanced training with at least 400 hours of instruction (e.g. specialist business administrator, business administrator, technician) grants access. Additionally, a subject-specific university entrance examination is required.
  • With vocational training and professional experience: Completion of at least a two-year (subject-related) vocational training as well as at least two years of professional experience in a study-related field of work. Passing a subject-specific university entrance examination is additionally necessary.
  • With intermediate school certificate and 3-year training: If you have completed at least a three-year vocational training with a final grade of 2.5 or better (chamber certificate or state exam certificate), you can start with a study agreement. If the grade 2.5 is not achieved, a subject-specific university entrance examination is required.

No specific grade (NC) is required. Prior achievements and professional experience can possibly be credited towards the course. The start of studies is flexible and possible at the beginning of any month.

Personal requirements include self-motivation, self-organisation and the ability to learn independently and digitally. You should have an interest in economic issues and psychological analysis as well as openness to statistical methods and scientific working. Initial experience – for example in working life, dealing with people or communication – facilitates entry and promotes study success. Time management is particularly relevant, as the weekly workload averages about 18 hours and the programme is mostly completed online.
