Admission requirements
Admission requirement for the Mechatronics (B.Eng.) dual degree program is typically the technical college entrance qualification.
The following applicant groups are also able to begin studies without a technical college entrance qualification:
Masters, technicians and similarly qualified individuals can apply for a study place without an entrance exam, for example: Technicians Graduates of two-year technical college education IHK specialist or IHK expert IHK business administrator Applicants with at least two years of vocational training and at least three years of work experience in the learned profession can apply for subject-related courses without an entrance exam due to a professionally corresponding vocational training and professional activity. Other professionally qualified individuals with at least two years of vocational training and at least three years of professional experience, including outside the training profession or alternatively childcare or nursing activities, where there is no professional equivalence between vocational training, professional practice and course of study, can be admitted through an entrance exam or trial study. In restricted-admission dual degree programs (selection procedure), 2 to 4% of study places are available to masters, similarly qualified individuals, and subject loyal applicants.
In order to learn about the application deadlines and procedures for the entrance exam and trial study in a timely manner, interested individuals should contact the university's student services early on.
Details
The part-time and work-integrated Mechatronics joint study programme at the South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences in Iserlohn is designed for prospective students who want to further expand their technical knowledge and skills in the areas of mechanics, electrical engineering, and computer science and graduate with an engineering degree.
The Bachelor of Engineering in the Mechatronics joint study programme is suitable for professionals from various technical fields such as mechanical engineering, electrical and automation engineering, as well as apprentices who wish to study alongside their vocational training. The aim of the programme is to enable students to pursue a practice-oriented study alongside their profession and at the same time provide them with solid knowledge in mechatronic systems.
The programme includes systematic and practice-oriented modules that combine the subjects of mechanics, electrical engineering, computer science, and control engineering. The modules and contents of the study cover the entire range of mechatronic systems, from mechanics and precision engineering to electronics and control engineering to computer science. A special emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary collaboration and system thinking to understand and develop complex mechatronic systems.
Graduates of the Mechatronics programme are qualified for a variety of roles in different industries such as automation technology, automotive, consumer goods industry, and plant engineering. Furthermore, the programme opens up the opportunity to acquire the admission requirements for a subsequent Master of Education degree for vocational colleges.
