- 5 possible specializations, such as robotics or automation technology
- 5 elective modules in the elective area
- including a practical phase, professional experience can be credited
- university and non-university achievements can be recognized
These are the requirements for the Bachelor's in Mechatronics
For the B.Sc. Mechatronics at Wilhelm Bücher University, there are various access options:
Access Option No. 1: You have a general higher education entrance qualification (A-levels), a technical college entrance qualification or a subject-specific university entrance qualification.
Access Option No. 2: You have a university entrance qualification recognized as equivalent by the Hessian Ministry of Culture (e.g. a master's degree or a qualification as a state-certified technician).
Access Option No. 3: Studying as an auditor: You start your guest studies at our university without the three mentioned access options and after 2 performance semesters, you take the university entrance examination (HZP). To do this, you must meet all of the following requirements:
- You have completed a minimum two-year vocational training regulated by the Vocational Training Act, the Crafts Code, or federal or state law in a field related to the desired study program.
- You have subsequently worked for at least two years full-time in a field related to the desired study program.
If you aim to study in a field that is not related to your completed training or professional activity, the knowledge acquired through training and professional experience must be expanded or deepened through qualified further education with a volume of at least 400 hours in a field related to the desired study program.
After successful university entrance examination (HZP), we will change your status from auditor to regular student.

These are the study contents and the course progression
Your Bachelor's degree course in Mechatronics at WBH is structured in modules. You study thematically closed subject areas (modules), to which credit points are assigned according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). The number of credit points assigned to each module depends on the scope of the module and the associated workload. All credit points you achieve will be credited to you, and you will receive a certificate about them. Your achievements are thus comparable and recognized - also internationally.
The course is structured as follows:
- 1st Semester: Mathematics I, Basic Natural Sciences, Fundamentals of Computer Science with Lab, Fundamentals of Business Administration and Legal Principles, Introductory Project for Engineers
- 2nd Semester: Mathematics II, Basic Engineering Sciences, Introduction to Electrical Engineering and Electronics, Communication and Management
- 3rd Semester: Mathematics III with Lab, Digital and Microcomputer Technology, System Theory and Modeling with Lab, Technical Mechanics I, Digital Signal and Information Processing
- 4th Semester: Measurement Technology, Design Principles, Technical Mechanics II, Control Engineering with Lab
- 5th Semester: Control Engineering with Lab, Design and Communication of Embedded Systems, Machine Elements I, Basic Knowledge of Electrical Machines
- 6th Semester: Design of Mechatronic Systems, Specialization (Module I), Specialization (Module II), Specialization (Module III)
- 7th Semester: Engineering Project, Specialization (Module IV), Specialization (Module V), Bachelor Thesis and Colloquium
At the beginning or during the course of your studies, you will also choose one of these specializations: General Mechatronics, Robotics, Electromobility, Rail Vehicle Maintenance, Automation Technology.
You will choose elective module I from these topics: English, Intercultural Competence.
You will choose elective module II from these topics: Quality Management, Maintenance Management, Investment and Financing.
