Admission requirements

For the degree programme in Mechatronics, applicants are admitted if they meet one of the following requirements:


• General higher education entrance qualification
• University of Applied Sciences entrance qualification
• Passed master craftsman examination
• Intermediate school leaving certificate (at least secondary school leaving certificate) and qualified completion of at least a 3-year recognized vocational training with an average or overall grade of 2.5 or better (if these grades are not specified, the arithmetic mean of the individual subject grades applies)
• Completion of a vocational advancement training course of at least 400 teaching hours, a technical college, or a vocational or administrative academy*
• Final examination in a state-recognized training occupation with subsequent at least 2-year professional activity related to the course of study and passing a separate university entrance examination*


*In accordance with the Regulation on Access to Universities for Professionally Qualified Persons in the State of Hesse

Details

Mechatronics is an interdisciplinary field of engineering. It combines mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science. Mechatronics is applied, for example, in the design of electronically controlled machines and vehicles. The discipline brings machines to life through electronics and software. Especially in robotics, electronically controlled drives, as well as in networked devices and machines of Industry 4.0, mechatronics is a crucial factor in development and production. With the development of new, intelligent machines, digitalization in industry and production, as well as the development of new types of drives, mechatronic skills are becoming increasingly important.


In the 7-semester (online) distance learning course "Mechatronics" (B.Eng.), you will acquire competencies in the essential areas of mechatronics, learn to link them together and apply them. You will gain knowledge to develop machines according to the latest state of the art, to initiate improvements and modernizations, and to implement innovative ideas into practice.

During your studies, you can also choose your personal, professionally oriented focus to further deepen your skills.

Course of Studies
At the DIPLOMA University, you have the opportunity to study the Bachelor's degree programme Mechatronics in one of three variants, as an online course, as a distance learning course on-site, or as a full-time course.


The (online) distance learning course at DIPLOMA Hochschule is designed according to the "blended learning" principle. This means that you work on the study contents with the help of study booklets and attend seminars. These usually take place on 12 to 14 Saturdays per semester – occasionally also during the week in the evening. In the online course, these seminars take place as live online seminars. You can also take your exams online or at an exam centre of your choice. In the distance learning course on-site, you attend your real presence seminars and exams at your chosen study centre – in Regenstauf.

Costs & Start of Studies
The (online) distance learning course at DIPLOMA University starts every year in the summer semester (April) and winter semester (October) of a year. The start of the study is also possible at any other time – after individual examination.
