This degree programme is right for you if you are interested not only in traditional business administration, but also in digital business models, artificial intelligence, sustainable business development, New Work, and change management. What are the formal admission requirements?
For standard admission, you will need one of the following higher education entrance qualifications:
- general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur),
- subject-specific higher education entrance qualification, or
- entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences (Fachhochschulreife).
It is also possible to study without a school-based university entrance qualification. An equivalent professional advancement qualification may be recognised as an access route, such as holding a Master Craftsman qualification, a business administrator (Fachwirt or Betriebswirt), or a comparable credential.
Alternatively, you can take the university entrance examination for professionals. In order to participate, the university requires at least a two-year relevant vocational training qualification as well as three years of relevant professional experience.
Can you start before passing the university entrance examination?
WINGS allows you to start as a guest student. This means you can already take modules in the summer or winter semester and complete the university entrance examination in parallel. Once you have passed the examination, you will be enrolled as a regular student. According to WINGS, all examination achievements successfully completed by then will be recognised.
What personal qualities are desirable?
This fully online programme requires a high degree of self-organisation and independent learning. You should be prepared to work regularly with digital learning materials, video lectures, and the myWINGS learning platform. An interest in economic interrelationships, openness towards digital technologies, and a willingness to critically consider the ecological and social impacts of business decisions are also helpful.
What will you learn in the Management, Digitalisation & Sustainability degree programme?
The Bachelor's programme in Management, Digitalisation & Sustainability combines a fundamental education in business administration with three areas of transformation: digitalisation, sustainable business development, and new forms of work. You will examine how companies are managed economically and how they can simultaneously respond to technological, ecological, and social changes.
The degree comprises 180 ECTS credits and leads to the state-accredited Bachelor of Arts degree. The curriculum consists of compulsory modules; WINGS does not currently offer separate compulsory electives.
- Business Administration and Management: Introduction to business administration, marketing and sales, human resource management, corporate management, economics, management accounting, international business, and strategic management
- Digitalisation: Fundamentals of artificial intelligence, digital transformation in business and society, digital business models, customer relationship management, and legal aspects of digitalisation
- Sustainability: Sustainability management, sustainable procurement, goal conflicts in sustainable development as well as the connection between digitalisation and sustainability
- Work and Organisation: New work, personnel management, change management, agile organisational structures, occupational and organisational psychology, and transformation of corporate cultures
- Methods and Application: Academic working, project and process management, personal management skills, entrepreneurship and a practical transfer module
The course profile is therefore broader than a degree focused solely on sustainability or personnel management. At the same time, the focus is on the business and organisational application of digital technologies. This programme does not include a technical computer science component.
How can you adapt the duration of your studies to your day-to-day life?
You can choose between three different models in terms of duration. The Fast Track covers 6 semesters, the Normal Track covers 8 semesters, and the Relaxed Track covers 10 semesters. The content and degree award remain the same; only the number of modules you take per semester varies.
The Fast Track is especially suitable for those who can dedicate a larger share of their time to studying. WINGS recommends the Normal Track for those wishing to study alongside work, and the Relaxed Track for those combining study, work, and family commitments. According to the provider, you can switch between tracks at any time.
How much does the Bachelor's in Management, Digitalisation & Sustainability cost?
The tuition fees depend on your chosen duration model. While the monthly fees are lowest on the Relaxed Track, the overall costs are higher due to the longer study period:
- Fast Track, 6 semesters: €259 per month or €1,554 per semester; total €9,324
- Normal Track, 8 semesters: €209 per month or €1,254 per semester; total €10,032
- Relaxed Track, 10 semesters: €179 per month or €1,074 per semester; total €10,740
The fees include study materials, learning platform and study app, video lectures, live tutorials, online libraries, exams, and personal study support. WINGS states that all prices are final. As WINGS GmbH is exempt from VAT, there is no additional value added tax.
The monthly payments equate to one sixth of the semester fee. If you actually pay the fee in monthly instalments rather than per semester or in two part-payments, WINGS, according to its financial guide, charges a 50 € instalment fee per semester.
What funding and financing options are available?
- BAföG: WINGS labels the Fast Track as BAföG-eligible. Whether and to what extent you are funded depends on your personal circumstances.
- Deutschlandstipendium (Germany Scholarship): Students can apply to Wismar University of Applied Sciences for €300 per month over 12 months. The scholarship is awarded regardless of income and may be combined with BAföG.
- Alumni Discount: Former WINGS students receive a 10% discount on semester fees.
- Employer Support: Companies can support studies through covering costs, providing grants, or granting leave. For members of the armed forces, funding from the vocational training service may also be available.
- Tax Deductibility: Depending on your personal and professional situation, the study costs can be claimed as business expenses or special expenses. A binding classification will be given by the tax office or a tax advisor.
How does online study work in everyday life?
The entire degree is organised fully online. Through the myWINGS learning platform and the study app you will have access to online modules, scripts, e-books, video lectures, practice assignments, and sample exams. You can also view your academic progress and register or deregister for exams there.
The majority of the content is completed through self-study. In addition, WINGS regularly offers live tutorials via video conference. These tutorials are recorded and subsequently made available on the learning platform, so you do not necessarily need to attend at a fixed time.
Are there any compulsory attendance sessions or fixed exam locations?
No compulsory in-person events are specified for this degree programme. You can also take exams online. If you prefer to sit exams in person with other students, there are 16 examination centres in Germany and Austria to choose from.
WINGS offers five exam days per semester. These dates always fall on either a Saturday or Sunday. This makes it easier to combine with professional work, but does require forward planning of your personal examination phase.
What kinds of professional roles does this bachelor's degree qualify you for?
This programme prepares you for specialist and managerial roles at the interface of management, digitalisation, and sustainable transformation. Potential fields of work include business development, change management, personnel and organisational management, sustainability management, or the support of digital business and transformation processes.
WINGS also mentions leadership positions in middle and senior management of companies and public institutions as possible prospects. The accredited bachelor's degree essentially also offers access to a subsequent master's degree. For specific positions in the public sector, the requirements of the relevant career path and advertisement must also be met.
