Admission requirements
To be admitted to study at the Technical University of Würzburg-Schweinfurt, you must provide proof of the general university entrance qualification (Abitur), the subject-specific university entrance qualification, or the advanced technical college entrance qualification. Also possible is a general or subject-specific access for particularly qualified professionals or a comparable foreign degree. For the Software Engineering programme (Bachelor of Engineering), English language skills at B2 level are also required.

The Bachelor's degree programme in Software Engineering at the Technische Hochschule Würzburg-Schweinfurt is ideal for everyone who wants to shape the digital future innovatively. The programme extends over seven semesters and offers a balanced mix of theoretical knowledge and practical application. The content includes, among other things, the fundamentals of software engineering, from algorithms and IT security to advanced topics such as cloud computing, machine learning, and green IT.
In the foundation studies, which cover the first two semesters, you will deal with the basics of computer science and software engineering. In the following two semesters of specialised studies, web and mobile development, DevOps, as well as software testing and requirements management play a central role. The fifth semester is reserved for a compulsory practical semester, during which valuable professional experience is gained and specialist knowledge is applied in a real work environment. You are free to find your partner company independently of location – in Germany or abroad.
The last two semesters are dedicated to the specialisation phase, in which students focus specifically on topics such as green IT or cloud computing. A scientific Bachelor’s thesis completes the programme.
Graduates of the programme are well prepared to work in full-stack development, IT security, data science, and much more. The practical focus of the degree opens up diverse opportunities in an international environment.
