Details
The part-time course "MASTER:ONLINE Building Physics and Sustainable Construction" will be offered for the first time starting in the winter semester 2022/23. The interdisciplinary course builds on the content and experience of the "MASTER:ONLINE Building Physics" course offered since 2007. The course is based on the principles of blended learning and can therefore be largely studied independent of location and time. It is compatible with family commitments and also enables a return to professional life.
In a basic course, students learn the fundamentals of building physics. This includes the physical principles and mechanisms of various building physical processes. After a basic course, students have the opportunity to choose the specialization direction Building Physics or Sustainable Construction.
The Building Physics specialization provides current, well-founded, and application-oriented knowledge on all building physical aspects. After a thorough examination of thermal and moisture protection, room and building acoustics, noise protection, aspects of daylight and artificial lighting planning, and fire protection, their mutual interactions are discussed. Sustainable construction imparts scientific principles, methods, and principles of climate and culture-appropriate construction. The requirements are conveyed using examples from individual climate regions. The analysis of the principles of traditional construction methods and forms plays a crucial role. In addition, the graduates are able to plan, create, renovate, and operate sustainable buildings of different uses, taking into account regional sociocultural aspects, local economic and ecological conditions, and locally available building materials and construction techniques.
The course lays the foundation for interdisciplinary collaboration in construction. The participation of renowned experts from internal and external institutes ensures cross-disciplinary content in the course. This enables graduates to plan, create, and operate sustainable buildings of different uses. Accordingly, graduates receive a unique feature as this type of interdisciplinary study does not yet exist.
Due to the location and time flexibility of the blended learning approach, the course is family-friendly and enables a return to professional life.
The following modules are part of the mandatory area of study:
Building Physics, Energy and Technology Sustainability and Ecobalance Climate Fundamentals Interdisciplinary Competences Wood and Renovation Thermal and Moisture ProtectionIn addition, specializations are offered in the areas of Building Physics and climate- and culture-appropriate construction.
