The RheinMain University of Applied Sciences (HSRM), founded in 1971, is a state university of applied sciences with locations in Wiesbaden and Rüsselsheim am Main in the state of Hesse. In the summer semester of 2025, it has a total of 11,810 students and employs around 1,155 staff, including 285 professors.
The university offers over 70 practice-oriented degree programmes in five departments: Architecture and Civil Engineering, Design Computer Science Media, Engineering, Social Work, and the Wiesbaden Business School. Since 2017, it has the independent right to award doctorates in several disciplines.
The main campus in Wiesbaden brings together around 80% of the students on several campuses: Kurt-Schumacher-Ring (Social Work and Architecture and Civil Engineering), Bleichstraße (Wiesbaden Business School), Campus Unter den Eichen (Design Computer Science Media), and Rheinstraße with the RheinMain University and State Library. In Rüsselsheim, the Department of Engineering focuses its activities.
The HSRM is a member of the Universities of Applied Sciences Hessen and is closely integrated into the Rhine-Main region. It conducts active research in the fields of "Engineering 4.0," "Smart Systems for Humans and Technology," and "Professionalism in Social Work," and cooperates, among others, with the Goethe University Frankfurt in doctoral programs.
The university focuses on digital transformation, sustainability, and equal opportunities. Projects such as IAMCool, Pimoo 3.0, and ViDiBiT reflect the close integration of research, teaching, and social engagement. Facilities such as the Digital Transformation Office, the Sustainability Office, and the Equal Opportunity Department contribute to the achievement of strategic goals.
