The PFH Private University of Applied Sciences, founded in 1995, is the oldest private, state-recognized university in Lower Saxony. With its focus on practice-oriented and business-oriented degree programs, it contributes to securing the scientific and economic location of Germany. It was last institutionally reaccredited by the Science Council in 2018.

The PFH currently offers 55 bachelor's and master's degree programs on campus and through distance learning. While teaching takes place at the campus locations in Göttingen and Stade, distance learning students can access 24 study centres in Germany, Austria, and Mallorca. The university has around 4,800 students, including approximately 600 campus students and 4,200 distance learning students. With over 42 international partner universities and a wide network of corporate partnerships, the PFH focuses on internationality and practical training.

The PFH aligns its study and research contents with the three central challenges of our time: digitisation, decarbonisation, and demographic development. This so-called D3 concept combines relevant trends with the professional qualification of the students, thus creating clear added value for their careers and societal contribution. Practical relevance and future-oriented teaching contents are the focus.

The PFH is supported by the Society for Applied Research and Academic Teaching GmbH and has been part of the Galileo Global Education Group since 2020, Europe's largest private university group. This group connects 95 locations in 15 countries and supports students worldwide with modern and internationally oriented educational offerings.

The PFH is involved in promoting students and research institutions through its scholarship foundation. The aim is to facilitate access to high-quality education for young talents through scholarships and funding. At the same time, the university pursues a sustainable approach with its teaching contents and places great emphasis on the social benefits of its educational offerings.
