Brand University at a glance

Brand University specialises in brand management, marketing and digital innovation and delivers this focus entirely through distance learning. The essentials for international students:

  • Language: the MBA Brand Marketing is taught in English; the rest of the portfolio (other MBAs, the Bachelor) is taught in German.
  • Study model: 100% online and asynchronous – no on-campus attendance, no fixed timetable, study from any country.
  • Flexibility: start anytime, full- or part-time, free extension of up to twelve months.
  • Exams: fully online – multiple-choice, open-book, case studies, video presentations and oral exams.
  • Cost: the MBA is around €9,900 in total, the same full- or part-time.
  • Accreditation: state-recognised, institutionally accredited by the German Wissenschaftsrat, with FIBAA programme accreditation.

Who is Brand University right for – and who not?

Brand University is a specialist. It fits a clear profile of international student and is openly not for everyone.

It is a strong choice if you …

  • … want an English-taught, German-accredited MBA you can study fully online from your home country;
  • … want to specialise in brand management and marketing rather than a generalist business degree;
  • … need maximum flexibility and want to study alongside a job;
  • … have professional experience but no Bachelor's, and want the entrance-exam route to a recognised degree.

It is less suitable if you …

  • … want to study one of the other programmes in English – the further MBAs and the Bachelor are taught in German only;
  • … are looking for an on-campus, in-person experience with a fixed cohort – the distance programmes are online and asynchronous;
  • … need a research master's as a route into a PhD – a professional MBA is not designed for that;
  • … want a broad subject range beyond brands and marketing.

The review base is still small, so treat it as indicative rather than representative: the few available reports praise the flexible study organisation, the practical content and the personal support. Before deciding, it is worth forming your own impression through the free trial access.

How distance learning at Brand University works

Studying here means a fully online programme: you learn independently of time and place, with the online campus as your central hub.

Learning platform and teaching

All content sits on the learning platform – digital scripts, interactive exercises and learning videos, also available via app. Teaching is asynchronous, so you work through the modules in self-study. Voluntary live lectures and online tutorials are recorded and added to the platform, so a time-zone gap never blocks you.

Exams you take from anywhere

Each module ends with one assessment you complete online – there is no exam centre to travel to, which is what makes the programme work from any country. Formats vary by module: multiple-choice and open-book exams, case studies, video presentations and oral exams. Typically you sit one assessment per module; an MBA adds up to around ten module exams plus the master's thesis with a colloquium.

Support and supervision

Unusually for an online provider, the personal support is hands-on. Certified study coaches accompany you from onboarding through milestone planning to exam preparation, and step in for learning blocks or exam anxiety. Teaching happens in small groups, with professors and lecturers available as mentors.

Flexibility and pace

You set your own start and pace. You complete the MBA in 18 months full-time or 24 months part-time; if you need longer, you extend by up to twelve months free of charge. Without a prior degree, you qualify through an entrance exam with a written and an oral part.

What does studying at Brand University cost?

Tuition is all-inclusive: registration, study materials, the online campus, all exam attempts and the free extension are covered – the university states there are no hidden costs.

The model is simple: the total fee is the same whether you study full- or part-time – only the monthly rate differs. An MBA costs around €9,900 in total, which is about €550 per month over 18 months or €412.50 over 24 months. A one-time payment earns roughly 4% off, semester instalments about 2%, and time-limited discount campaigns run from time to time.

ItemNote
MBA (Brand Marketing and others) around €9,900 total, the same full- or part-time
Bachelor Marketing & Communication around €9,900 total, rate depends on the time model
University certificates from €690, depending on scope
Entrance exam (without a Bachelor's) one-time €200, credited after you enrol

On financing: because you study from home, there is no student visa and no blocked account (Sperrkonto) to fund. Most international distance students self-fund through monthly instalments, an employer contribution or a private education loan. German public funding such as the Bildungsgutschein does not apply to these academic programmes.

What can you study in English at Brand University?

Everything revolves around brand, marketing and communication. For international students, the key distinction is language:

Compact university certificates (6 ECTS, 1–4 months) round off the offering for targeted upskilling, some of them available in English. You can compare the English MBA against other providers on the MBA programmes overview.
