Bridges between Science and Profession In addition to teaching and research, continuing education alongside work is an important task of the University of Freiburg. The interdisciplinary offer opens up new opportunities for the profession scientifically and practically, up to a specialist reorientation. At the same time, the university sees itself as an active member of society and offers an extensive cultural and educational program that can be accessed by all knowledge-hungry and culture enthusiasts - whether participants from business and society, those seeking further education, guest auditors, or university members. The range of offerings includes conferences, concerts, lecture series, or the Saturday University of the Studium Generale, as well as longer term courses and programs as part of training, an extramural study program, or in an online master's degree program. The Academy for Continuing Education (AfW) offers numerous continuing education events for professionals and executives from the business and society. The continuing education opportunities for the university's staff are compiled by the Centre for Continuing Education (ZfW). In addition, the Language Teaching Institute (SLI) organises tailor-made language courses in the Philological and Philosophical Faculty.
