These are the requirements for the Bachelor's in Game Development
For the B.Sc. Game Development at Wilhelm Bücher University, there are various access options:
Access Option No. 1: You have the general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur), the subject-specific higher education entrance qualification, or the subject-specific university entrance qualification.
Access Option No. 2: You have a qualification for university admission recognized as equivalent by the Hessian Ministry of Culture (e.g. a master's degree or a certificate as a state-certified technician).
Access Option No. 3: Studying as a guest student: You start your guest studies at our university without the three mentioned access options and take the university entrance examination after 2 performance semesters. To do this, you must meet all of the following requirements:
- You have completed at least a two-year vocational training in a field related to the desired course of study as defined by the Vocational Training Act, the Crafts Code, or federal or state law.
- You have subsequently worked in a field related to the desired course of study for at least two years on a full-time basis.
If you aim to study in a field that is not related to your completed training or work experience, the knowledge acquired through training and work must be extended or deepened through qualified further education with a minimum of 400 hours in a field related to the desired course of study.
After successfully passing the university entrance examination, we will change your status from guest student to regular student.

This is the course content and course structure
Your Bachelor's degree programme in Game Development at WBH is structured in a modular way. You study thematically closed subject areas (modules) to which credit points are assigned according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). The number of credit points assigned to each module depends on the scope of the module and the associated workload. All credit points you earn will be credited to you, and you will receive a certificate to that effect. Your achievements are thus comparable and recognised, also internationally.
The course is structured as follows:
- 1st Semester: Fundamentals of Computer Science, Fundamentals of Object-Oriented Programming, Mathematical Foundations for Computer Scientists, Media Economics, Management and Law, Introduction Project for Computer Scientists
- 2nd Semester: Operating Systems, Software Engineering, Design and Creativity, Applied Mathematics for Computer Scientists
- 3rd Semester: Advanced Programming, Gaming Theory and Concepts, Game Programming (Part 1), Media Technology Fundamentals, Project Management and Academic Work
- 4th Semester: Multimedia Applications, Design of Interactive Systems, Computer Graphics, Game Programming (Part 2), Intercultural Communication and Leadership (including Elective Area II)
- 5th Semester: Distributed Information Processing, Gaming Technology, Elective Area I Elective Module 1, Project Work
- 6th Semester: Game Design, Game Practice, Elective Area I Elective Module 2, Bachelor Thesis and Colloquium
You choose the Elective Module I from these topics: Database Systems, Application of Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology, Basics of Business Administration and Legal Principles, Media Communication and Psychology, Online Marketing, Social Media, Electronic and Mobile Services.
You choose the Elective Module II from these topics: Business English, Intercultural Competence, Spanish.
