Admission requirements
In order to enroll in the programme Automotive Engineering, you need one of the following qualifications: General qualification for university entrance (A-levels), subject-specific qualification for university entrance, or university of applied sciences entrance qualification. Alternatively, other qualifications for university admission that are recognized as equivalent may also be considered. Passing the university entrance examination (HZP) after two semesters is also possible. In addition, admission is possible through professional qualifications such as a minimum three-year training with a final grade of 2.5 or better, along with at least two years of professional experience and a secondary school leaving certificate. Qualified certifications such as a master craftsman's certificate, business administrator or technician's examination also qualify for enrollment.

The degree programme in Automotive Engineering at Wilhelm Büchner University prepares you perfectly for the challenges of modern vehicle technology. It encompasses an interdisciplinary education in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology (STEM), as well as economic, legal and social science knowledge. The focus is on digitisation and sustainable drive technologies, which are of central importance in the automotive industry.
The programme is structured in modules and spans seven semesters. The first three semesters cover the interdisciplinary basics, followed by a specialisation in vehicle technology from the fourth semester onwards. This includes vehicle design and construction, vehicle propulsion, dynamics, electronics, as well as big data and data analytics.
You can choose from various specialisations to further sharpen your professional skills. These include specialisations in vehicle technology, product management, sales engineering, and patent engineering.
The qualification opens up diverse career opportunities in the automotive industry, with suppliers, in trade, with service providers, or even in authorities. Introductory projects, seminars, project work, and a practical phase in the workplace ensure the practical application of the acquired skills. The education concludes with a bachelor thesis and a colloquium.
