Distance Learning Mechanical Engineering, Master of EngineeringThis master's degree program is aimed at working engineers in technical fields who want to further develop themselves in the areas of "Plastics Technology", "Product Development/Design" or "Material Forming Technology" alongside their careers.
Study ContentsAfter completing a basic technical module in 2 semesters, students choose one of the following specializations:
Plastics Technology: Material technology with high-performance materials and hybrids, material testing, failure analysis, rheology, tool technology, simulation technology, testing methodology, cross-sectional subjects such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, statistics, quality control, and business management. Product Development/Design: Product design, design systematics considering modern quality assurance measures and business aspects, constructive design, gear technology, advanced technical mechanics, fluid technology, measurement, control and regulation technology, CAD methods, personnel management and leadership, creativity/ideation, cross-sectional subjects such as mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, materials science, and CAD. Material Forming Technology: Materials science focusing on the structure of matter and materials, material technology of steels and non-ferrous metals, material testing, forming technology, process technology, material composites, cross-sectional subjects such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, statistics, and quality control. Study ProcessThe study is conducted through distance learning and self-study, supplemented by on-site phases.
The mechanical engineering students receive the study materials at the beginning of each semester and work through the study letters in self-study.
An estimated time commitment of about 10 to 14 hours per week should be allocated.
The study is complemented by on-site events held at the university from late September to early February or from early March to mid-July. An average time commitment of approximately 8 hours per event should be planned for these on-site events.
Tuition FeesThe tuition fees amount to 173.56 euros per semester.
