Study Concept and Process

We are convinced that exams in the form of written tests are not suitable for reflecting the competencies you have actually acquired. Therefore, in this programme, you will find few written exams in test form. We test your learning progress online and as part of your studies through assignments, online presentations and speeches, or in so-called e-portfolios. For you, this means: No travel required for exams and less exam stress – resulting in a fair chance for excellent performance ratings that correspond to your actual knowledge and competencies.

Maintaining a balance between studying, work, and life is a great challenge. Therefore, support during this pivotal phase of your life is crucial: the support of your family, the understanding of your company, and especially the personal, consistently service-oriented guidance from your university. That's why we rely on a unique interdisciplinary coaching team comprised of professors, lecturers, and study coaches. Your personal study coach is your contact person for all matters related to your studies. Whether by phone, email, or through the messenger in studynet – your study coach advises and actively supports you on your path to a successful graduation. Together, we create the necessary balance, laying the foundation for your continuous growth throughout your studies – achieving something that seemed so distant at the beginning.

Whether at home or on the go, on desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone – your campus is always with you. Our study platform studynet is also an auditorium, seminar room, campus, and cafeteria. 'Social Learning' is the keyword: a holistic learning experience that consistently focuses on dialogue using various media formats.

For example, with many features you may already be familiar with from your usual social media platforms: Connect with each other and exchange messages. Stay up to date with the Activity Board, your onlineplus Timeline. And see in your personal Learning Analytics what you have achieved and where you stand. At the kick-off studycamp, at the open learning camps, and at optional events on-site, we provide opportunities for you to deepen and expand your contacts in the world of onlineplus. This way, you experience an active learning community that accompanies you throughout your studies and beyond, becoming a valuable network as an alumnus of Fresenius University.

At onlineplus, studying is a method. Structure and pacing characterise the learning organisation at onlineplus, providing clear orientation which fundamentally distinguishes it from conventional distance learning programmes. You start flexibly at a time you choose and are guided through similarly structured study units, modules, and semesters based on our study magazines, the studymags, through individually planned milestones.

This allows you to learn in manageable stages, leading to regular successes and renewed motivation in your studies. The study plan recommended by onlineplus offers you the flexibility of numerous adjustment options, allowing you to tailor it to your personal learning style, preferred study times, and your own pace. This way, you find the exact study programme that suits you.

Throughout, you have full transparency: At all times, you see your individual learning progress, what you have already accomplished, where you currently stand, and precisely what lies ahead. The innovative and intuitive study format thus lays the foundation for the feasibility and success of your entire online studies.

Tip: The costs incurred for your studies alongside your job can be tax deductible. You have two options: You can either declare the expenses for your studies as special expenses up to an amount of 4,000 euros in your annual tax return. You can apply this option if the part-time study is a first degree programme not initiated by the employer for operational reasons and not completed as part of an employment relationship.

Alternatively, you can deduct the costs as operating expenses in full from your taxes. This is possible if a completed vocational training or a completed first degree programme precedes the part-time study or if the study is ordered by the company. In this case, not only the tuition fees but also, among other things, specialist literature count as operating expenses. For all tax-related questions, it is best to consult your tax office or a tax advisor.
