Study Concept and Structure
We are convinced that exams in the form of written tests are not suitable to adequately reflect the competencies you have actually acquired. Hence, in this degree programme, you will find few written exams in test form. We test your learning progress continuously and online through tasks like essays, online presentations and speeches, or in so-called e-portfolios. This means: no travel effort for exams and less exam stress – offering you a fair chance for excellent performance evaluations that correspond to your actual knowledge and skills.
Maintaining a balance between study, work, and life is a major challenge. That is why support in this groundbreaking phase of your life is crucial: the backing of your family, understanding from your company, and most importantly, the personal, consistently service-oriented support from your university. Therefore, we rely on a unique interdisciplinary coaching team composed of professors, lecturers, and study coaches. Your personal study coach is your contact for all matters related to your studies. Whether by phone, email, or through the messenger on studynet – your study coach advises and actively supports you on your way to a successful graduation. Together, we create the necessary balance, enabling you to continuously grow in your studies, achieving something that seemed far off at the beginning. Whether at home or on the go, on desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone – your campus is always with you. Our learning platform studynet is also an auditorium, seminar room, campus, and cafeteria. "Social Learning" is the keyword: a comprehensive learning experience that strongly relies on dialogue, in addition to using a variety of different media formats.
For example, with many features you already know from your familiar social media platforms: Connect with each other and communicate through the messenger. Stay up to date with the Activity Board, your onlineplus timeline. Check your personal Learning Analytics to see what you have achieved and where you stand. At onlineplus, studying is a method. Structure and timing characterize the learning organization at onlineplus, providing clear orientation and fundamentally differing from conventional distance learning programmes. You start flexibly at a time you choose, and are guided through similarly structured learning units, modules, and semesters based on our study magazines, the studymags, with individually planned milestones.
This enables you to learn in manageable stages that provide regular sense of achievement and new motivation in your studies. The recommended study plan by onlineplus offers you the flexibility of numerous adjustment options to tailor the programme to your personal learning style, preferred study times, and pace. This way, you find exactly the programme that suits you. You have full transparency at all times: You can see your individual learning progress, what you have already accomplished, where you currently stand, and what lies ahead. This innovative and intuitive form of studies lays the foundation for the feasibility and success of your entire online studies.
Tip: The costs incurred for your part-time studies alongside work can be tax deductible. You have two options: You can either declare the expenses for your studies as special expenses up to an amount of 4,000 euros in your annual tax return. You can apply this option if the part-time studies are your first degree course, not initiated by the employer for business reasons, and not completed under an employment contract.
Alternatively, you can deduct the costs as business expenses in full from your taxes. This is possible if you have already completed a professional training or a first degree course before starting the part-time studies, or if the studies are ordered by the company. In this case, not only the tuition fees but also professional literature, among other things, can be considered as business expenses. For any tax-related questions, it is best to consult your tax office or a tax advisor.
