These are the requirements for the Bachelor's in Energy Process Engineering
For the B.Eng. Energy Process Engineering at Wilhelm Bücher Hochschule, there are various access options:
Access option No. 1: You have a general university entrance qualification (A-levels), a subject-specific higher education entrance qualification, or a subject-specific university entrance qualification.
Access option No. 2: You have a university admission qualification recognized as equivalent by the Hessian Ministry of Culture (e.g. a master's degree or a degree as a state-certified technician).
Access option No. 3: Studying as a guest auditor: You start your guest studies at our university without the mentioned three access options and take the university entrance examination (HZP) after 2 semesters. To do this, you must meet all of the following requirements:
- You have completed at least a two-year vocational training in a field related to the desired course of study according to the Vocational Training Act, the Crafts Code, regulated by federal or state law.

Your Bachelor's degree program in Energy Process Engineering at WBH is structurally modular. This means that you study thematically self-contained subject areas (modules) to which credit points are assigned according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). The number of credit points assigned to each module depends on the scope of the module and the associated workload. All credit points you achieve will be credited to you, and you will receive proof of this. Your achievements are thus comparable and recognised – also internationally.
The structure of the program is as follows:
- 1st Semester: Mathematics I, Introduction to natural science engineering fundamentals, Basics of business administration and legal principles, Introduction project for engineers, Basics of computer science
- 2nd Semester: Mathematics I, Introduction to natural science engineering fundamentals, Basics of business administration and legal principles, Introduction project for engineers, Basics of computer science
- 3rd Semester: Technical thermodynamics and fluid mechanics with laboratory, Chemical reactions and materials, Basics of energy technology, Technical mechanics
- 4th Semester: Heat and mass transfer, Components of energy technology, Control engineering with laboratory, Measurement technology
- 5th Semester: Thermal process engineering, Thermal power plants, Mechanical process engineering, Energy systems with laboratory
- 6th Semester: Energy storage technology, Renewable energy technology, Energy generation from biomass
- 7th Semester: Elective area III, Engineering science project, Bachelor thesis and colloquium
You choose Elective module I from these topics: English, Spanish, Intercultural competence.
You choose Elective module II from these topics: Quality management, Maintenance management, Investment and financing.
You choose Elective module III from these topics: Energy information networks, Energy efficiency and sustainability, Building energy technology, Modelling and simulation, Hydrogen technologies, Energy and environment, Safety in chemical production, Environmental technology.
