The online programme "Data Science for Society and Business" (DSSB) offers a comprehensive education in the field of data science. It is designed for students with a strong academic background in the social sciences who aspire to a career as data scientists and are interested in issues from the fields of business and social sciences. Participants receive a solid education in the mathematical and statistical foundations of data science, including the key algorithmic concepts. The programme promotes the development of fundamental knowledge in mathematics and statistics that are essential for understanding the practical application of data science algorithms and evaluating their performance.
Throughout their studies, students gain both substantive and computational skills to solve complex problems in digital societies. Graduates are able to apply their acquired skills in practical projects and work in interdisciplinary and international contexts. Students receive hands-on training and intensive support from instructors and tutors in synchronous and asynchronous modules. The programme concludes with a master's thesis, which can be carried out in collaboration with partners from research or industry. In total, students need 120 ECTS credits to successfully complete the programme.
