For admission, you usually need:
- A first professional higher education degree (e.g. Bachelor, Diploma, Magister, at least 180 ECTS)
- Depending on the scope of the degree, required professional experience:
- With 240 ECTS: 1 year of subject-specific professional experience after graduation
- With 210 ECTS: 1.5 years of subject-specific professional experience after graduation
- With 180 ECTS: 2 years of subject-specific professional experience after graduation
- Subject-related prior knowledge through at least 25 ECTS in one of the following areas:
- Economics (e.g. business administration, economics, marketing, accounting, strategic management)
- Information technology or IT-related disciplines (e.g. basics of information technology, operating systems, databases, IT security)
- Proof of English language skills at B2 level may be required
Note: Interested parties without a classical first degree can also be admitted – in exceptional cases and with relevant vocational training as well as several years of subject-specific professional experience and a passed aptitude test. Individual solutions are offered by the university.
Further personal prerequisites may include a high degree of self-organisation, strong analytical skills and an interest in digital technologies and transformation processes. You should be willing to learn independently and critically reflect on complex issues. Experience with project work and interdisciplinary collaboration is an advantage.

How the Master’s Distance Learning Works: Flexible Online Graduation
You can start the MMAI programme at Hochschule Fresenius flexibly on the first day of any month. The standard period of study in the full-time model is 2 semesters (12 months), but optionally you can also extend the course in the part-time model over up to 4 semesters (24 months). The most important process elements at a glance:
- Modular Structure and Individual Pace: You work through the content at your own learning pace via the online campus studynet. A switch between full-time and part-time study is possible.
- Learning Support: For each module, you receive digital study magazines (Studymags), video lectures and access to an online library. All teaching materials are available digitally but can optionally be ordered as printed booklets.
- Interactive Formats: Regular online seminars and virtual office hours with lecturers promote personal exchange. Two attendance days are mandatory; otherwise, you study completely independently of location.
- Examinations: Exams mostly take place online as written tests, term papers or presentations. Participation is flexible according to your schedule; many exams are available 24/7. Classical on-site exams are kept to a minimum.
- Setting Priorities: In the elective area, you can specialise, e.g., in agile project management methods, digital business modeling, design thinking or generative AI.

- Shorter Models (full-time from 12 or 18 months): Up to €695 monthly (12 months), €545 monthly (18 months). Total costs vary depending on the model; monthly instalments decrease with longer study duration.
