  • General or subject-specific university entrance qualification (Abitur, Fachabitur):
    • With an Abitur, a subject-specific university entrance qualification, or a technical college entrance qualification (Fachabitur: theoretical and practical part), you can apply directly.
    • Graduates of Waldorf schools or vocational colleges in Baden-Württemberg may need an official confirmation for nationwide recognition.
    • For applicants with international school leaving certificates, IU University checks the equivalence according to Anabin.
  • Access without (specialised) Abitur:
    • A master craftsman's certificate or
    • An advanced training (e.g. IHK specialist or IHK specialist) or
    • At least two years of recognised vocational training plus at least 3 years of full-time work experience (industry-specific or technically related activities).
    • Qualifications of applicants with European, but non-German vocational training comparable to DQR level 4, will be subject to an equivalency review.
  • Language proficiency (for international applicants):
    • Evidence of German language skills at B2 level, e.g. through TestDaF (at least 3 points in all areas), DSH (DSH1), Telc German B2, or ÖSD B2.
    • The language certificate must generally not be older than five years.
    • In individual cases, IU International University may recognise additional certificates.
