What formal requirements must you meet?
Several routes are available for accessing the distance learning course in Industrial Engineering (B.Eng.):
- With (advanced) school leaving certificate: You can start directly if you have the general higher education entrance qualification, the advanced technical college entrance qualification or a subject-specific higher education entrance qualification.
- With vocational training and experience: You need a completed vocational training of at least two years and subsequently two years of professional experience in a related field. In this case, a subject-specific higher education entrance examination must also be taken.
- With master craftsman’s certificate or advanced training: Completion of a master craftsman’s certificate or advanced training (e.g. specialist business manager, technician, business economist) with at least 400 hours of instruction also qualifies for application. Here too, a subject-specific higher education entrance examination is required.
- Without higher education entrance qualification and without advanced training: With a secondary school leaving certificate and three years of vocational training (final grade 2.5 or better), you can enter via an aptitude test (study agreement): In the first year of study, depending on classification, 18 or 30 credit points must be obtained.
Further individual cases are examined by the university on a case-by-case basis. You can start your studies at any time flexibly.
In addition, you should bring self-motivation, interest in technical and economic issues as well as willingness to learn independently. Analytical thinking, an affinity for mathematics and scientific contexts, and practical experience in technical or business environments are advantageous. Time management and perseverance are crucial in part-time distance learning.

How is the study progression structured in the distance learning course in Industrial Engineering?
The distance learning course is clearly designed for flexibility and self-directed learning. You can start anytime on the 1st of a month and choose the study duration according to your needs: the standard bachelor's degree duration is 6 to 12 semesters, corresponding to 36, 48, or 72 months. An extension of up to twelve months is possible free of charge.
