General university entrance qualification (Abitur), subject-restricted university entrance qualification, or university of applied sciences entrance qualification or university admission entitlement recognized as equivalent by the Hessian Ministry of Science and Art, or successful university entrance examination (HZP) after two performance semesters.

The study of engineering psychology at Wilhelm Büchner University is interdisciplinary and encompasses the fields of psychology, engineering, and other relevant disciplines. The aim is to educate students in the design and optimization of products, systems, and environments to increase user-friendliness, efficiency, safety, and performance.
The degree programme is designed for individuals who have an interest in both technical and psychological issues. It is aimed at future Human Factors Engineers and specialized psychologists, among others.
The curriculum is divided into a basic and a core study programme. It covers topics such as cognitive psychology, human-computer interaction, human factors, biological and personality psychology, and engineering disciplines. The core study programme deepens these contents and integrates additional areas such as business management and leadership.
Students have the option to specialize in medical technology or mechanical engineering and can also choose from specializations in General Engineering Psychology, Product Management, and Industrial Design. Elective modules expand knowledge in a targeted manner to set an individual focus and sharpen the professional profile.
The modular structure of the programme allows flexibility, enabling students to determine their own learning pace.
There are various career opportunities, especially in technical fields, medicine, automotive, aerospace, and public administration. Engineering psychologists are in demand in product design, ergonomics, safety and error prevention, as well as in usability and user experience (UX). They significantly contribute to improving the user-friendliness and effectiveness of products and systems.
