Admission requirements
For admission to the distance learning programme M. Sc. Biotechnology, you must be able to demonstrate a relevant undergraduate degree with at least a grade of "good" as well as relevant work experience (minimum 1 year).
Relevant work experience (at least 1 year) A relevant undergraduate degree in Biotechnology with a grade of "good" (if this overall grade was not achieved, admission can be granted by the admissions committee if the overall application in terms of subject matter suggests successful completion of the master's programme). For a bachelor's degree of 180 ECTS credits, proof of additional work experience or the completion of additional modules totaling 30 ECTS credits during the programme is necessary.Since mathematics plays an important role in the Biotechnology programme, you should assess your mathematical abilities. You should possess the following mathematics skills: solving quadratic equations and exponential equations, solving linear systems of equations, basics of differential and integral calculus, and solving simple differential equations. In the download section, you will find a detailed description of the required mathematics skills as well as a set of mathematical tasks. To successfully participate in the distance learning programme, you should be able to solve these tasks independently before starting.
Before the start of the programme, a two-hour online event will take place for four days, where applicants can discuss the relevant mathematical topics with a tutor and can assess whether they possess the required foundational knowledge for the distance learning programme and can successfully manage the mathematical requirements in the first semester of the programme through exercises together. This online course is free for applicants.
