These are the requirements for the Bachelor of Chemical Process Engineering
For the B.Eng. Chemical Process Engineering at Wilhelm Bücher University, there are different access options:
Access option 1: You have a general university entrance qualification (A-levels), a subject-specific higher education entrance qualification, or a subject-restricted university entrance qualification.
Access option 2: You have a university entrance qualification recognized as equivalent by the Hessian Ministry of Education (e.g. a master's degree or a degree as a state-certified technician).
Access option 3: Study as an auditor: You start your guest studies at our university without the three mentioned access options and take the university entrance examination (HZP) after 2 semesters of performance. To do this, you must meet all of the following requirements:
- You have completed a vocational training of at least two years regulated by the Vocational Training Act, the Crafts Code, or federal or state law in a field related to the desired course of study.
- You have subsequently worked in a professional capacity for at least two years in a field related to the desired course of study.
If you aim to study in a field that is not related to the completed training or professional activity, the knowledge acquired through education and professional activity must be expanded or deepened through qualified further training with a minimum of 400 hours in a field related to the desired course of study.
After successfully passing the university entrance examination (HZP), we will change your status from auditor to regular student.

These are the study contents and the course of studies
Your Bachelor's degree in Chemical Process Engineering at the WBH is structured in modules. You study thematically self-contained subject areas (modules) to which credit points are assigned according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). The number of credit points assigned to each module depends on the scope of the module and the associated workload. All credit points you achieve will be credited to you and you will receive a certificate. Your achievements are therefore comparable and recognised internationally.
The course of study is structured as follows:
- 1st Semester: Mathematics I, Introduction to scientific engineering fundamentals, Basics of computer science, Basics of business administration and legal foundations, Bachelor introductory project
- 2nd Semester: Mathematics II, Scientific engineering basics, Introduction to electrical engineering and electronics, Communication and management
- 3rd Semester: Chemical reactions and materials, Physical chemistry, Technical thermodynamics and fluid mechanics with laboratory, Technical mechanics
- 4th Semester: Measurement technology, Design theory and machine elements, Heat and mass transfer, Control engineering with laboratory
- 5th Semester: CAD techniques and finite element simulation, Reaction engineering, Mechanical process engineering, Thermal process engineering
- 6th Semester: Technical chemistry, Apparatus and plant engineering, Process engineering laboratory
- 7th Semester: Engineering project, Elective area III, Bachelor thesis and colloquium
You choose the Elective Module I from these topics: English, Spanish, Intercultural competence.
You choose the Elective Module II from these topics: Quality management, Maintenance management, Investment and financing.
You choose the Elective Module III from these topics: Process engineering in pharmacy, Energy efficiency and sustainability, Fundamentals of innovation and technology management, Logistics and material flow management, Marketing and technical sales, Energy systems, Energy and environment, Safety in chemical production, Biochemical engineering.
