Admission requirements
Admission to the occupational therapy degree program is granted to those who meet the following requirements:
• General qualification for university entrance, technical college certificate, successfully completed master craftsman's examination, intermediate school leaving certificate (at least secondary school leaving certificate), and qualified completion of a recognized vocational training of at least three years with an average overall or final grade of 2.5 or better (if these grades are not specified, the arithmetic mean of the individual subject grades applies) or (after individual examination) in accordance with the regulation on access for professionally qualified individuals to universities in the state of Hesse
• Proof of completion of a three-year vocational training in the field of occupational therapy or proof of the start of training to become a state-certified occupational therapist
• The study accompanying the training starts at the beginning of the first semester, parallel to the occupational therapy vocational training, which is credited with a total of 90 ECTS upon successful completion. If the vocational training is not successfully completed, the study cannot be continued. Prospective occupational therapists from vocational schools for occupational therapy can gain access to the study accompanying the training model if the university entrance requirements are met
• Occupational therapists who are already professionally qualified also receive a credit of 90 ECTS for their completed training by presenting their certificate and their certificate of permission to use the professional title "Occupational Therapist".
For more detailed information on specific qualifications, we are happy to provide them upon request. Applicants who do not meet the mentioned requirements can initially participate in the study as guest auditor if they are admitted to the university entrance qualification examination.
For foreign qualifications, equivalence must be demonstrated for admission.

Details
The Occupational Therapy degree programme leading to a Bachelor of Science degree is aimed at both qualified occupational therapists who undertake the programme as a five-semester advanced study programme. Those who are still in vocational occupational therapy training and have the higher education entrance qualification according to Hessian law can complete the programme over eight semesters alongside their training.
The Bachelor's programme in "Occupational Therapy" (B.Sc.) is designed as an (online) distance learning programme to empower future occupational therapists to make professional decisions and act in specific practical situations. Students can incorporate legal aspects as well as ethical, scientific, or business requirements into their decision-making processes. The programme imparts a broad spectrum of knowledge and complements the skills already acquired in basic training. With a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy, you are optimally prepared for collaboration with other stakeholders in the healthcare industry. Your actions are value-based and always prioritize the well-being of your patients. You uphold ethical and empathetic principles and give all necessary planning steps a positive direction.

Course of Study
At DIPLOMA University, you have the opportunity to study the Occupational Therapy Bachelor's programme online or as a distance learning programme on-site.
The (online) distance learning programme at DIPLOMA University is designed on the principle of "Blended Learning." This means that you work on the study contents with the help of study materials and attend seminars. These typically take place on 12 to 14 Saturdays per semester - in some cases, also on weekday evenings. In the online programme, these seminars are conducted as live online sessions. You can also take your exams online or at an exam centre of your choice. In the on-site distance learning programme, you attend your real presence seminars and exams at your chosen study centre - in Hannover or Leipzig.
Costs & Registration
The (online) distance learning programme at DIPLOMA University starts every year in the summer semester (April) and winter semester (October) of each year. The start of the programme is also possible at any other time after an individual assessment.
