Details
The Bachelor's degree programme in Applied Therapy Sciences (Occupational and Physiotherapy) (B.Sc.) is an extension of the study offering at the APOLLON University of Health Sciences in Bremen. This part-time degree programme is aimed at qualified professionals in occupational and physiotherapy who wish to academically further qualify for an expanded responsibility in patient-centered care.
The programme aims to convey evidence- and science-based action in one's own profession to address the increasing demand for health-promoting and interprofessional skills. Students should be able to act therapeutically autonomously, interprofessionally, based on science and reflection. For this purpose, knowledge and skills for evidenced-based planning, development, and evaluation in various therapeutic fields are taught. Personal competencies such as transparent, competent, and cooperative action are also developed.
The programme comprises a total of 180 ECTS credit points (5,400 hours workload) and is divided into two modularized parts. The acquired competencies and skills from a therapeutic education are fully creditable. The teaching concept is designed independently of location, time, and semester and offers various didactic teaching materials such as multimedia-enriched study booklets, audio files, video lectures, textbooks, and online lectures to ensure flexibility for the students.
The course includes various training modules such as anatomy, physiology, legal foundations, pathology, pedagogy, psychology, sociology, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, kinetics, biomechanics, physical therapy, massage, methods of physiotherapy in various medical fields, and much more.
Mandatory modules include methodology, scientific work, public health, quality management, research methods, medical ethics, health psychology, prevention, differential diagnosis, and other relevant topics.
In addition, students must choose two elective mandatory modules, such as Basics of Management, Corporate Health Management, Digital Health Management, or Gerontopsychiatry.
The programme concludes with the Bachelor's thesis, in which students conduct an independent research project and apply the acquired knowledge.
The Bachelor's degree in Applied Therapy Sciences (Occupational and Physiotherapy) addresses the need for academically qualified occupational and physiotherapists who wish to take on extended responsibility in interdisciplinary health care. Through comprehensive training, students are empowered to act on evidence-based principles and to grow personally and interprofessionally to meet the requirements of the health sector.
