Admission requirements
Applicants must have a first degree in the field of Social Work (Bachelor's or Diploma with 210 ECTS) with a grade of 2.0 or better. They must also provide evidence of a study-related, advisory activity in the field of Social Work ranging from 15 to 30 hours per week.

The Master's programme „Psychosocial Counselling and Therapy in Social Work M.A.” at Hochschule Fulda is aimed at individuals with a first university degree in the field of Social Work who wish to deepen their counselling skills. The target group includes, for example, social workers and social pedagogues who are already working in advisory roles and want to further qualify or change direction.
The programme imparts extensive knowledge and skills in the area of psychosocial counselling. Among other things, students learn counselling psychology, communication techniques, diagnostics and action planning, as well as methodological approaches to supervision. Special focus is placed on the participants' self-experience and self-reflection. The course consists of modules on research and evaluation methods, legal and ethical issues, as well as developments in counselling and therapy.
The programme is structured over five semesters and designed as a part-time course alongside employment. It follows the Blended Learning approach with a combination of online and face-to-face modules. The face-to-face sessions regularly take place at Hochschule Fulda and provide opportunities for reflection and exchange with fellow students and lecturers. The Master's degree grants access to higher civil service positions and entitles the holder to pursue a doctorate.
