Admission requirements
Applicants must have a first degree in Social Work (Bachelor's or Diploma with 210 ECTS) with a grade of 2.0 or better. Additionally, they must provide evidence of student advisory work in the field of Social Work, ranging from 15 to 30 weekly working hours.

The Master's programme "Psychosocial Counselling and Therapy in Social Work M.A." at Fulda University is aimed at individuals with a first degree in Social Work who wish to deepen their counselling skills. The target group includes, for example, social workers and social pedagogues who are already working in advisory roles and wish to further qualify or reorient themselves.
Within the programme, extensive knowledge and skills in the field of psychosocial counselling are imparted. Students learn, among other things, counselling psychology, communication techniques, diagnostics, action planning, as well as methodical approaches to supervision. Special focus is placed on the self-experience and self-reflection of the participants. The course consists of modules on research and evaluation methods, legal and ethical issues, as well as developments in counselling and therapy.
The programme is designed for five semesters and is structured as a part-time course for working professionals. It follows a blended learning approach with a combination of online and face-to-face modules. Face-to-face events take place regularly at Fulda University, providing opportunities for reflection and exchange with classmates and lecturers. The Master's degree enables access to higher civil service positions and qualifies for a doctorate.
