Admission requirements
At HFH · Hamburger Fern-Hochschule, the general requirements for university access according to the Hamburg Higher Education Act (HmbHG) apply to the admission process for the undergraduate Bachelor of Arts in Social Work.
You can be admitted to the Bachelor's degree programme in Social Work with a university entrance qualification.
In addition, interested parties must demonstrate appropriate practical basic knowledge in a social and health profession (e.g. social therapy, education, therapeutic education) for admission to the Bachelor's programme in Social Work. The exams are written in the modules "Introduction to Social Work and Social Work Sciences" and "Introduction to the Health System and Health Sciences."
Individuals without university entrance qualification, but with a recognized advanced training qualification, can obtain university entrance qualification at HFH through a consultation in accordance with § 37 (2) HmbHG. An advanced training qualification can be recognized if it is equivalent in content and form to a master's or specialist qualification. This can be an advanced training course (e.g. specialist in social work, state-recognized specialist in social management) or a specialist training course (e.g. specialist nurse, specialist teacher for social pedagogical and social care professions, gerontopsychiatric specialist therapist).
