There are two main admission routes available for enrolment in the Bachelor's degree in Social Work:
- University Entrance Qualification: You have a general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur), advanced technical college entrance qualification (Fachhochschulreife), subject-specific higher education entrance qualification, master craftsman’s certificate, business economist qualification, a completed three-year, related vocational training, a university degree or an equivalent foreign qualification.
- Admission Without Abitur: You have completed at least a two-year vocational training or possess equivalent knowledge and skills. In this case, passing a placement test is required to attain the subject-specific higher education entrance qualification.
- Special Case for Childcare Workers: Those who have completed a state-recognised childcare worker training can have this credited towards their studies, thereby shortening the duration of the course.
Personal requirements include social skills, empathy and the willingness to engage with social challenges. Initial professional experience in the social environment, counselling competence, ability to work in a team as well as self-reflection skills are advantageous. You should also bring motivation for academic work, good time management and perseverance for a part-time distance learning course.
