Admission requirements
Applicants must have a university degree in social work or a related field of social, educational, pedagogical, or health sciences, as well as at least one year of relevant professional experience.
Alternatively, a university degree in another field of study is also possible if there is at least one year of professional experience in the social sector and a current managerial position, or if there is at least two years of work experience in preparation for a managerial position.
For foreign applicants, German language skills at level C1 are required, for example proven by the telc German C1 University or the TestDaF with at least 16 points.
The allocation of study places is based solely on formal admission criteria. There is no numerus clausus.

The part-time Master's programme in Social Management (MBA) provides advanced business and management-related skills for professionals and managers in the social sector. The programme enables students to apply modern management methods strategically and practice-oriented to various fields of social economy.
The course is modular and covers content from the areas of social work, nursing, early childhood education, business administration, applied social management, social policy and law, as well as ethics and theology. The modules are interdisciplinary and based on international standards. The aim is to combine scientific orientation and explanatory knowledge with practical analytical and action knowledge.
Particular emphasis is placed on promoting personal reflective competence. In addition to knowledge transfer, individual coaching sessions are offered. An internet-based learning platform is used to deepen the content and support communication with lecturers and fellow students.
The study organisation is tailored to working individuals. The distance learning programme is complemented by regular attendance events. Six attendance phases take place on Fridays and Saturdays per semester. The self-study component is high and is supported by digital learning materials and online seminars. The fifth semester is dedicated to writing the master's thesis.
The programme is aimed at individuals with a degree in social, educational, health-related or related disciplines who wish to take on or deepen leadership responsibilities. Graduates mainly work in managerial positions in welfare facilities or in the public sector.
Assessment consists of module examinations as well as the final master's thesis. The programme is accredited by AHPGS and complies with recognized quality standards in higher education.
The aim of the course is to combine social pedagogical expertise with business management skills. Graduates are able to make well-founded strategic decisions, shape change processes, and effectively lead social organizations.
