The distance learning course in Social Management is aimed at those who want to combine a course like Social Work with management fundamentals and Business Administration. As a graduate, you are likely to work in a social institution, for example, as a social manager at a Foundation or a Welfare Association. Or you might be or become a manager at a Non-Profit Organization or in Home Management. There, you will lead employees and be responsible for the organization and management of your social institution.
You can enroll in the Bachelor's distance learning course in Social Management at IU International University (IU) if you provide us with your A levels (the general qualification for university entrance), your advanced technical college entrance qualification (Fachabitur), or subject-specific university entrance qualification.
Alternatively, you can also enroll without A levels. Studying without A levels at IU is possible under the following conditions:
- You have successfully completed an Advanced Training Course, for example, training to become a State-certified business economist.
- Or you have completed a Vocational Training, for example, as an office clerk. After your training, you have worked full-time in this profession for at least 3 years. If your training does not match the subject of distance learning Social Management, you will first complete a trial study before being enrolled regularly.

Study Concept: How the Part-Time Studies in Social Management at IU Work
The online study program in Social Management at IU International University can be tailored flexibly to fit your life and daily routine best. For instance, you can choose from 3 study models: In the full-time study, you will need a total of 6 semesters, that is, 36 months, to complete your bachelor's degree. In part-time study I, you study for 8 semesters until you graduate. Or you opt for part-time study II and take up to 12 semesters to complete your bachelor's degree.
You will receive study materials at IU with each module registration as printed study booklets. All materials are also available digitally. The IU Interactive Books are innovative learning scripts enriched with video clips and quiz questions at the end of each lesson. Depending on the module, the study materials are complemented by podcasts, live tutorials, and video content in the form of so-called shortcasts. You can access the IU Interactive Books via the convenient IU Learn app.
In many modules, virtual lectures are also offered, allowing you to interactively engage with your fellow students and lecturers.
A particularly practical and flexible feature is the option to take module exams in the form of online exams. You can take an online exam 24/7, 7 days a week, whenever you feel best prepared, for instance, to take the exam in building construction. Moreover, we operate approximately 40 exam centres in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland where you can also take your exams in the traditional offline manner.
