Admission requirements
Interested parties can apply for the course “Social Management” without admission restrictions; there is no numerus clausus (NC), but a registration or selection procedure may be conducted.
- Access route 1: Abitur, entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences, subject-specific higher education entrance qualification, master craftsman certificate, business economist, advanced training or comparable qualification, university degree, equivalent foreign higher education entrance qualification (recognition may be required)
- Access route 2: completed vocational training of at least 2 years, at least 3 years of professional experience, participation in further training events; placement test required within the first 6 months of studies, consisting of two exams that are already included in the curriculum

The Bachelor's degree programme in Social Management (B.A.) at APOLLON University provides an integrative qualification combining business administration knowledge and scientifically based social work. The target groups for this programme are employees in the classic areas of the social economy, such as educators for youth and residential care, home and family carers, social assistants, and others. Employees from the healthcare sector are also among the addressed target groups.
The part-time programme is modular, comprises 180 ECTS credits, and leads to the academic degree "Bachelor of Arts". The programme can be completed in 36 or 48 months.
This programme is designed to impart subject-specific and methodological knowledge and skills to students in the core area of social management as well as in the adjacent fields of health and business administration. The learning objectives of the programme consist of developing action competencies for the management of social services, the ability to analyse social developments and their impacts on social organisations, as well as the application of scientific methods to problem-solving in the professional field of the social economy.
The practical orientation of the studies is demonstrated particularly in the integrated internship as well as in practice-oriented project work, which are part of the elective modules. Assessment requirements during the course include, among others, case studies, written exams, term papers, seminar contributions, project work, and the final Bachelor’s thesis.
The following content is included in the course of study:
- 1st academic year: Scientific work, basics of social economy, project management, visualising, presenting and moderating, communication, ethics in social work, general economics, general business administration, theories and methods of social work, psychological and sociological basics of social work, fundamentals of law, quantitative and qualitative social research, evidence-based social work
- 2nd academic year: Social policy, civil society, social law I, social law II, human resource management, external accounting, internal accounting, organisation, quality and process management, investment and financing, controlling
- 3rd academic year: Fundraising, special aspects of communication, group project on supply management, internship, thesis
Elective modules: Social work with people with dementia, child, youth and family support, health and social work, neighbourhood and community development, fundraising, migration work.
Graduates are capable of leading social institutions both professionally and economically and shaping them for the future.
The degree programmes in Social Management and Health Economics comply with the structural requirements of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs and the demands of the Accreditation Council. They are accredited by FIBAA and meet the quality standards for Bachelor’s programmes. The programme is accredited by AHPGS and awards a state-recognised and internationally accepted university degree.
