Admission requirements
Entry with 180 credits from the initial degree
With a completed basic degree at a state or state-recognized university with a focus on business or economics and at least 180 credits, you can be admitted if:
- Your initial degree is in the fields of economics, social work, educational sciences, pedagogy, or public administration, or qualifies for work in emergency organizations, or you have an equivalent university degree AND
- You have at least one year of qualified work experience after the initial degree
Entry without a university degree
- If you have completed vocational training and have at least ten years of qualifying work experience with at least six years in leadership positions, you can be admitted through our Master's entry program
English language skills
- You have sufficient English language skills at level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
Notes:
Graduates from other fields require a letter of motivation explaining their study motives, goals, personal background, and qualifying work experience for this degree program. The evaluation of your qualifications and the admission decision based on the complete application documents and the letter of motivation will be made in this case by the program-specific admissions committee.
As this postgraduate Master's program is specifically designed for professionals without psychological background knowledge, graduates in (business) psychology are not eligible for admission.
Details
The Master's programme in Applied Psychology at the European Distance University of Hamburg is designed for graduates of a non-psychological Bachelor's degree. The aim of the programme is to apply scientific methods and insights of psychology in professional, psychology-related contexts.
Students choose one of seven available specialisations, including Leadership and Decision Making, Family Systems, Sustainability and Resource Orientation, Demographic Change, Communication and Counselling, Work and Education, as well as Disaster Management and Crisis Communication. They acquire extensive knowledge of theories and application areas as well as skills for planning, implementing, and evaluating interventions in their professional activities. The flexible supplementary area offers modules on psychological basic and application fields, research skills, and non-psychological subjects for individual profiling.
The programme features a didactic distance learning concept that provides flexible start times and individual study organisation. The connection between research and teaching is promoted through project work and seminars. Graduates are expected to be able to apply scientific methods and insights of psychology in their professional environment and further their career development upon completion of the programme.
The accreditation of the programme by the Accreditation Council confirms the quality of the study offering and its didactic concept. The Euro-FH supports students in their individual concerns and provides them with access to teaching and learning materials as well as supportive measures such as online tutoring.
