Here are the admission requirements for the Master's programme in Coaching
Prerequisites for admission to this Master's programme include the following:
- A first university degree.
- The grade of the first degree should be at least a 'Satisfactory'.
- You have worked for at least one year in a professionally relevant job following your first degree.
By the way, you can have previous achievements recognized extensively in order to significantly shorten the study time for your coaching distance learning. For example, if you have been in a senior position in a relevant profession for 5 years, we can recognize individual credit points for this work experience. For each recognized credit point, you save a total of 30 euros in tuition fees and a lot of learning time.

The Master's programme at IU International University is modular in structure. A module usually consists of 5 credit points (ECTS) and concludes with an examination, such as a written exam or paper. You complete your Master's one step at a time – and even have a significant say in determining when you want to complete each module.
In full-time studies, you can structure your study plan as follows:
- 1st Semester: Introduction to Coaching, Conversation Management and Communication Techniques, Research Methods, Learning and Development Theories, Ethics and Value Management, Basics of Self-Reflection
- 2nd Semester: Personality Psychology, Conversation Management and Conflict Management, Crisis Intervention, Project: Team Development, Seminar: Virtual Coaching and Self-Coaching, Self-Reflection: Professional Attitude and Interaction
- 3rd Semester: Methods in the Coaching Process, Project: Concept Development and Live Coaching, Elective Module A, Elective Module B

Study Concept: How the Part-time Coaching Studies at IU Work
You can tailor the Online Coaching Studies at IU International University to fit your life and daily routine as best suits you. For example, you can choose one of 3 study models: In the full-time programme, you will need a total of 4 semesters, i.e., 24 months, to complete your Master's degree. In part-time programme I, you study for 6 semesters until completion. Or you can opt for part-time programme II and take 8 semesters to complete your Master's.
You will receive study materials at IU with every module registration as printed study books. All materials are also available digitally. The IU Interactive Books are innovative learning scripts enriched with video clips and quiz questions at the end of each lesson. Depending on the module, the study materials are complemented by podcasts, live tutorials, and video content in the form of so-called Shortcasts. You can access the IU Interactive Books via the convenient IU Learn app.
Additionally, many modules offer virtual academic events where you can interactively engage with your peers and instructors.
Extremely practical and flexible is the option to take module exams in the form of online exams. You can take an online exam 24/7, 7 days a week, at a time when you feel best prepared, for example, after studying for a construction exam. Furthermore, we operate about 40 exam centres in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland where you can take your exams in the traditional on-site format.
