The Bachelor's degree programme in Early Childhood Education for Educators is exclusively aimed at individuals who have successfully completed training as a state-recognized educator in Germany.

The following higher education entrance qualifications enable direct access:

  • General or subject-specific higher education entrance qualification (Abitur) and training as an educator in Germany
  • Technical college entrance qualification (scholastic and practical part) and training as an educator in Germany

Even without a university entrance qualification, you can start directly on a trial basis by providing evidence of completed, qualified training as an educator in Germany.

For foreign students interested in studying in German, proof of German language skills is required for the German-language study programme. The proof must be provided before the start of studies and is generally not older than five years.

For example, you choose one of 3 study models: In the full-time study, you need a total of 3 semesters, or 18 months, to complete the bachelor's degree. The IU Interactive Books are innovative learning scripts enriched with video clips and quiz questions at the end of each lesson. Depending on the module, the study materials are complemented by podcasts, live tutorials, and video content in the form of so-called shortcasts. You access the IU Interactive Books via the practical IU Learn App.

In many modules, virtual lectures are also offered, allowing you to interact interactively with your classmates and lecturers.

Particularly convenient and flexible is the option to take module exams in the form of online exams. You can write an online exam 24/7, 7 days a week - at a time when you feel optimally prepared, for example, for an exam in building construction. Additionally, we operate around 40 exam centers in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland where you can also take your exams in a traditional on-site manner.
