Admission requirements
In order to be admitted to the Master's programme in Vocational Education, you must have a first academic degree consisting of 210 ECTS credits and at least one year of relevant professional experience.
In addition, sufficient competences in an academic and/or professional context must be demonstrated.
Current teaching obligations of at least four weekly hours at a vocational school are also required.
For applicants without a university degree or with fewer ECTS points, there are various alternative admission routes, including qualification measures such as bridging courses and competency assessments.

The Master's distance learning programme in Vocational Education at DIPLOMA University is aimed at career changers who wish to qualify for teaching positions at vocational schools. The programme is practice-oriented and supplements professional qualifications and work experience with pedagogical and didactic skills. This enables graduates to lead both young people and adult learners to successful completion of their initial and continuing education.
The course content includes educational science, didactics of vocational education including online didactics, empirical educational and teaching research, vocational educational professionalization, communication in schools and teaching, as well as school organization and school law. At the beginning of the programme, participants choose a didactic focus in the areas of SAGE (Social Work, Health & Care, Education & Training), Business, MINT (Mathematics, Computer Science, Natural Sciences and Technology), or Design.
The programme offers a flexible learning structure that allows students to complete their studies alongside professional commitments. Examinations and seminars can be conducted online, with on-site events also possible at DIPLOMA study centres. The standard period of study is five semesters.
The varied range of applications for graduates includes teaching positions at vocational schools, in adult education as well as in master schools, universities, and technical colleges. A particular emphasis is placed on independent use of new media and digital technologies to be able to apply modern teaching methods.
Graduates of this programme also have the opportunity to pursue a doctorate after obtaining their Master's degree. For this purpose, DIPLOMA University offers a build-up certificate course.
