The Master's programme in Pedagogy, Educational Counselling, and Leadership lasts 4 semesters in full-time study and 6-8 semesters in part-time study. A first degree with a (social) pedagogical, educational, or educational science focus is required, such as a bachelor's degree or a diploma. If your primary degree has a different focus, you may still be admitted through an entrance examination.
The final grade of your primary degree should be at least "satisfactory."
Foreign applicants must also demonstrate their knowledge of German, for example, through TestDaF, DSH, Telc, or ÖSD.

- 2nd Semester: Learning design and experience, methods of systemic (e-)counselling in education, profession, and employment, (e-)counselling - role play, change management and organizational development, project: challenges in leadership action in pedagogical fields, quality management in pedagogy
- 3rd Semester: Project: Educational research, seminar: Professional self-reflection in the context of megatrends in education and counselling, specialization I, specialization II
- 4th Semester: Master's thesis

You choose the first specialization module from these topics: Digital ethics in educational and counselling contexts, leadership in pedagogy in the context of diversity, methodology and didactics of a pedagogy of diversity, practical project: leadership, education, counselling.
You choose your second specialization module from these topics: Establishing and developing digital structures in educational and counselling institutions, diversity management, early childhood education and upbringing, promotion of resilience, inclusive pedagogy, media and communication, participatory research, employment law, practical project: leadership, education, counselling, socio-pedagogical perspectives.

For example, you can choose from 3 study models: In the full-time programme, you need a total of 4 semesters, i.e., 24 months, to complete your master's degree. In part-time programme I, you study for 6 semesters until completion. Or you can opt for part-time programme II and take 8 semesters to complete your master's degree.
With each module enrolment, you receive study materials in print at IU. All materials are also available digitally. The IU Interactive Books are innovative learning scripts enriched with video clips and quiz questions at the end of a lesson. Depending on the module, the study materials are supplemented with podcasts, live tutorials, and video content in the form of so-called shortcasts. You can access the IU Interactive Books via the convenient IU Learn app.
In many modules, virtual classes are also offered, allowing you to interactively engage with your peers and lecturers.
Especially convenient and flexible is the option to take module exams in the form of online exams. You can take an online exam 7 days a week, 24 hours a day – whenever you feel best prepared for the exam, for example, in construction preparation. Additionally, we operate about 40 exam centres in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland where you can also take your exams in the traditional way.
