These are the admission requirements for the Master's programme Special Needs Education/Inclusive Education
For this Master's programme, a first degree with a focus on (social) pedagogy, educational, or educational science and a final grade of at least "satisfactory" is required.
If you have completed your undergraduate studies in Psychology, you can be admitted under the following conditions:
- You can demonstrate completion of two courses focusing on pedagogy/educational sciences, educational psychology, or learning/learning theories.
- Or you have at least 18 months of work experience in an educational institution for children and/or adolescents (e.g. kindergarten, school, or extracurricular educational institutions).
- Or you additionally take courses from the IU Bachelor's programme in Special Needs Education: "Introduction to Special Needs Education" (if only one course is missing) and "Special Needs Educational Support Concepts" (if two courses are missing).
Foreign applicants also need to demonstrate their proficiency in German, for example, through TestDaF, DSH, Telc, or ÖSD.

You can flexibly adjust the online course in Special Needs Education/Inclusive Education at IU International University to fit your life and daily routine as best suits you. For example, you can choose from 3 study models: In the Full-Time Programme, you need a total of 4 semesters, or 24 months, to complete your Master's degree. In Part-Time Programme I, you study over 6 semesters until graduation. Alternatively, you can opt for Part-Time Programme II and take 8 semesters to complete the Master's.
With each module registration, you will receive study materials from IU in the form of printed study guides. All materials are also available digitally. The IU Interactive Books are innovative learning scripts enriched with video clips and quiz questions at the end of each lesson. Depending on the module, study materials are complemented with podcasts, live tutorials, and video content in the form of shortcasts. You can access the IU Interactive Books through the practical IU Learn App.
Additionally, many modules offer virtual lectures, allowing you to interactively engage with your peers and lecturers.
Especially convenient and flexible is the option to take module exams in the form of online exams. You can take an online exam 7 days a week, around the clock – whenever you feel best prepared, for example, for an exam in Construction Design. Moreover, we operate approximately 40 exam centres in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland where you can also sit your exams in the traditional way.
