There are several ways to gain access to the distance learning course in Childhood and Youth Education (B.A.) at Euro-FH:
- With the Abitur or general university entrance qualification: With the relevant school-leaving certificate, you are directly admitted to the programme.
- Without the Abitur, with a subject-specific advanced training examination: For example, a completed vocational training of at least two years followed by advanced training (e.g. master craftsman, business administrator, comparable qualification).
- Without the Abitur, with completed vocational training plus professional experience: With at least two years of training and at least three years of professional experience in a relevant field of work, you can be admitted through so-called professional qualification.

Self-responsibility and self-organisation are important, as most of the course is completed via distance learning. Communication skills, the ability to work in a team, empathy and the ability to reflect are also helpful and will support you in pedagogical practice and academic work. How is the structure of this distance learning course designed?

During your studies, you combine self-study phases with study materials and digital modules. The following mandatory on-site elements are scheduled:
- Practical phase: 100 days (reducible to 50 days with prior qualifications, e.g. as an educator), fully integrated into the course
- On-site phases in Hamburg: Two days (16 hours in total)
- Mandatory online seminars: Four sessions per year (a total of 66 hours)
You can take examinations monthly online or at nationwide examination centres. Many compact seminars take place online. Individual support is provided by personal study advisors and specialist tutors. Through the digital learning environment, you have access to all materials and literature searches.
Previous achievements from vocational training or other degree programmes can be credited towards the course and the practical phase, saving time and costs. The practical phase is an integral component for state recognition as an early childhood educator.
