Admission requirements
For admission to studies, the following are required:
- General university entrance qualification [Hochschulreife] or
subject-specific university entrance qualification or
successful completion of the university entrance examination for the degree programme
and
demonstration of successful completion of training in the following professions:
- State-recognized social assistant
- State-certified child care worker
- State-recognized educator
- State-recognized diploma social pedagogue or social worker
- Educational scientist
- State-recognized special needs educator or special needs care worker
- Teacher with a first state examination
- Community educator
- Dance educator, music educator, sports educator, and theater educator
- Graduate of relevant bachelor's, master's or diploma programs
Access to studies is also possible for individuals with three years of professional experience without a pedagogical or equivalent professional qualification by demonstrating pedagogical aptitude through an assessment examination based on the regulations for placement in a higher semester. To determine pedagogical aptitude, evidence of relevant pedagogical practical experience of at least 20 hours per week and a duration of at least 12 months must be provided.

The Bachelor's programme "Early Education - Education and Upbringing in Early Childhood" at Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences is designed for students who want to specialise in educational work and upbringing in early childhood. The programme is practice-oriented and provides both theoretical and field-specific competencies in early childhood education, management, counselling, and diagnosis.
Students acquire fundamental expertise, methodological skills, as well as knowledge of conflict resolution strategies throughout the course of study. Special emphasis is placed on the close integration of traditional teaching methods and blended learning to ensure a holistic learning approach. The programme consists of 180 credits and lasts for 7 semesters in full-time.
The curriculum comprises 15 modules that prepare students for comprehensive educational and upbringing work with integrated early childhood, socio-pedagogical, psychological, and primary school pedagogical concepts. Additionally, basics for collaboration with parents and the team are taught. Internships in daycare centres, primary schools, and support centres are mandatory and provide students with the opportunity to directly apply theoretical knowledge into practice.
