Admission requirements
Required:
In order to directly enrol in the degree programme, you need to have the general higher education entrance qualification, a subject-specific higher education entrance qualification or the university of applied sciences entrance qualification.
Don't have a school-leaving certificate or university entrance qualification?
Recognised advanced training and technical school qualifications (e.g. technician, master craftsman, business administrator, specialist manager, educator, etc.) in combination with a consultation entitle you to study.
If you do not have an advanced training or technical school qualification but have completed vocational training and professional experience, you can start your studies after successfully passing a university aptitude test.
From foreign prospective students, we require proof of German language proficiency. There are several ways to provide this proof, such as
- DSH-2 (German Language Examination for University Entrance)
- C1 according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
- TestDaF Level 4 (Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache - Test of German as a Foreign Language)
- a school-leaving certificate equivalent to a German university entrance qualification.
Recommended Knowledge:
- English language skills at level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
- Basic knowledge of mathematics and statistics
- Basics of human sciences
Missing prerequisites can be acquired during the preparatory course.

The Bachelor's degree programme in Nutritional Sciences is offered on a part-time basis at AKAD University in Stuttgart. This nationally accredited programme lasts for 6 semesters and is categorised under the field of Health Sciences. Students acquire a broad knowledge in the core areas of Nutritional Sciences, based on biological and natural science fundamentals and linked with competencies in Psychology, Communication, Sociology, and Business Administration.
The curriculum covers key topics such as human nutrition and food production, as well as a generalist perspective on areas like Medicine, Public Health, Nutritional Sociology, and Sustainable Management. This programme is designed for high school graduates, vocational school graduates, and working individuals with university admission eligibility who wish to further qualify in the field of Nutritional Sciences. Upon completion of the programme, students write a Bachelor's thesis to present their research capabilities and findings. Overall, this programme offers a balanced combination of theoretical and practice-oriented subjects tailored to the requirements of today's job market.
