Admission requirements
In order to be admitted to the Bachelor's programme "Nursing - dual variant" at FH Münster, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Language skills: Applicants who have not obtained their university entrance qualification at a German-speaking institution must demonstrate German language skills at level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). This can be done, for example, by passing the "German as a Foreign Language" test (TestDaF) with an average grade of 4 or by providing an equivalent certificate.
Evidence of a training contract: Admission requires a valid training contract for the three-year vocational training as a nursing professional with one of the cooperation partners of FH Münster. Cooperation partners include various nursing schools and hospitals.
Admission procedure: The allocation of study places is done through an internal selection process by the cooperation partners. The selection criteria include the grade of the university entrance qualification or an equivalent qualification, the progress of the training so far, and the successful completion of the probationary period. After a successful application, applicants receive a reference from their training institution, which they can then use to enroll at FH Münster.
Details
The Bachelor's programme "Nursing – dual variant" at FH Münster combines academic studies with practical training to become a nursing professional. Students acquire both theoretical and practical skills preparing them for demanding tasks in various healthcare areas. The dual approach promotes a close integration of studies and professional practice, allowing the learned content to be applied directly.
The study is divided into three main areas: Nursing and Health Sciences, Care Management, and Basics of relevant reference disciplines. During the first five semesters, the study is conducted part-time as a distance learning programme, complemented by six-day presence phases per semester. Students engage with topics such as health promotion, ethics, nursing theories, and care structures. They also gain solid knowledge in psychology, statistics, and care management methods such as case management or networking.
After completing the three-year vocational training, students deepen their knowledge in a part-time study for another three semesters. During this phase, they can choose from in-depth modules in counseling, quality management, or project management. Students can set individual priorities and complete their studies with a bachelor's thesis.
A special focus is placed on evidence-based nursing. Graduates are able to independently analyze nursing care needs, design and evaluate care processes. They also develop skills in patient counseling and the introduction of quality standards. Through practical training in cooperation with various healthcare facilities, they gain valuable experiences for their future career path.
During the study, students are supported by learning process guides. Close collaboration with instructors and other students is possible through the online learning platform. Additionally, the "Skills Lab" offers the opportunity to simulate realistic nursing situations in a protected environment and reflect on them together.
After graduation, graduates have various career opportunities. They can work in direct patient care, quality management, patient counseling, or discharge management. Furthermore, they have the opportunity to further academically qualify through advanced degree programmes.
