These are the admission requirements for the Master's Programme in Health Management
We offer the Master's in Health Management in 2 variants: the shortened 60-ECTS variant lasts 2 semesters in full-time study. The 120 ECTS variant lasts 4 semesters in full-time study. The 90 ECTS variant lasts 3 semesters in full-time study.
For the 120 ECTS variant in 4 semesters, the following requirements apply:
- You have a first degree with a focus on business or health sciences with a final grade of at least "satisfactory".
- If your degree has a different focus, you can be admitted through a master's entrance exam
- In addition, you must demonstrate at least 1 year of relevant work experience gained after your initial degree.
For the shortened 60 ECTS variant, the following requirements apply:
- You have a first degree with a final grade of at least "satisfactory".
- If your first degree is 180 ECTS, you must take courses worth 30 ECTS and demonstrate at least 1 year of relevant work experience. Alternatively, you must demonstrate at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
- If your degree is 210 ECTS, you must demonstrate at least 1 year of qualified work experience. This work experience should have been gained after your studies.
- If your degree is 240 ECTS, as is often the case with many diploma degrees, you must also demonstrate 1 year of qualified work experience in addition to the degree.

The Master's programme at the IU International University is modular. A module usually consists of 5 credit points (ECTS) and concludes with an examination, such as a written exam or assignment. You complete your Master's degree step by step and even largely determine when you want to complete each module.
In the 60-ECTS variant, you could structure your study plan in full-time studies as follows:
- 1st Semester: Health Care Management A, Health Care Management B, Digital Business Models, Seminar: Medical and Nursing Law
- 2nd Semester: Elective Subject A (Digitization in Medicine and Nursing, Staff Recruitment and Retention in Medicine and Nursing), Master's Thesis
In the 120-ECTS variant, you could structure your curriculum in full-time studies as follows:
- 1st Semester: Health Care Management A, Management, Applied Statistics, Health Psychology and Sociology

You choose your first specialization module from these topics: Digitization in Medicine and Nursing, Public Health, Staff Recruitment and Retention in Medicine and Nursing.
You choose your second specialization module from these topics: Digitization in Medicine and Nursing, Performance-Oriented Controlling, Communication and Public Relations, Staff Recruitment and Retention in Medicine and Nursing, Public Health, Labor Relations Law, Strategic Marketing and Branding, Organizational and Staff Development.
Study Concept: How the part-time study programme in Health Management at IU works
The online study programme in Health Management at the IU International University can be flexibly adapted to your life and daily routine. For example, you can choose from 3 study models: In the full-time study, it takes a total of 2 semesters or 4 semesters to complete the Master's degree, depending on the study variant. In part-time study I, you study for 3 or 6 semesters until graduation. Or you opt for part-time study II and take 4 or 8 semesters to complete the Master's.
With each module registration, you will receive printed study materials from IU. All materials are also available digitally. The IU Interactive Books are innovative study scripts enriched with video clips and quiz questions at the end of a lesson. Depending on the module, the study materials are complemented by podcasts, live tutorials, and video content in the form of so-called Shortcasts. You can access the IU Interactive Books via the practical IU Learn App.
In many modules, virtual teaching events are also offered, allowing you to interactively engage with your fellow students and lecturers.
Particularly practical and flexible: The option to take module exams in the form of online exams. You can take an online exam 24/7, 7 days a week – whenever you feel optimally prepared for the exam, for example in building construction. Additionally, we operate about 40 exam centres in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, where you can also take your exams in a traditional, on-site manner.
