What requirements must you meet?

To be admitted to the programme, you need a completed university degree (at least a bachelor’s, diploma or an equivalent qualification). The first degree must have been completed at a state-accredited university. The field of study is open; however, health-related, social science or economic prior knowledge is recommended.

Personally, you should have a strong interest in health topics, scientific understanding and analytical skills. Experience in the healthcare sector, a fundamental understanding of management processes, as well as motivation for independent learning are advantageous. Self-responsibility, strong communication skills and time management are essential for successfully completing the distance learning programme.

Which content do you deepen in the Master’s in Prevention and Health Management?

In the Master’s programme in Prevention and Health Management at the German University for Prevention and Health Management (DHfPG), you acquire interdisciplinary skills to develop, implement and lead health-promoting concepts. The curriculum consists of compulsory modules and individually selectable specialisation areas:

  • Compulsory modules: Research methods (academic work, statistics), Strategic corporate management I and II (strategic management, personnel leadership, organisation, change management), Prevention and health management (sector-specifics), Entrepreneurship (company-related innovation, lean start-up methods), preparatory seminar for the Master’s thesis.
  • Specialisation areas (selection of two specialisations): Possible topics include health management, occupational health management, sports nutrition, weight management, finance and controlling, marketing and sales, fitness management, sports and exercise therapy (e.g. with DVGS qualification), coaching, stress management, mental health or sports psychology training techniques.

These modules combine health science, psychological, economic and exercise therapy approaches. You learn to design target group-oriented health promotion, develop innovative business models, and apply modern management tools in the health market. The options for specialisation areas allow you to create your individual competence profile. Those who choose certain specialisations can acquire additional qualifications such as “Sports and Exercise Therapist DVGS” or gain access to BBGM examinations.

Structure and organisation of your Master’s degree

The Master’s degree lasts four semesters, or 24 months, in the flexible distance learning model with compact attendance phases. You will primarily study the content independently and location-independently by self-study. In total, mandatory teaching sessions take place on 31–34 days throughout the study period – either on-site at nationwide study centres or digitally. At the beginning, you take the compulsory modules, followed by the selection of two specialisation areas according to your individual interests.

The monthly tuition fee is 390 euros (until 31.05.2026), rising to 440 euros from 01.06.2026 onwards. Over four semesters, this results in a total amount of 9,360 euros. All tuition, study materials and examination fees are included in the tuition fees.
