Admission requirements
The study programme Process and Product Design is open to those who have one of the following qualifications:
• General or subject-specific higher education entrance qualification
• University of Applied Sciences entrance qualification
• Passed master craftsman examination or equivalent qualification from a vocational advancement training
• Intermediate school leaving certificate (at least secondary school leaving certificate) and qualified completion of a recognized vocational training lasting at least 3 years (final grade 2.5 or better)
• Proof of outstanding scientific or artistic talent through a talent test at the DIPLOMA University at the beginning of the studies
Foreign students are expected to have a basic knowledge of the German language at level B2, which enables them to complete their studies. In addition, foreign educational qualifications are to be evaluated by the Hessian Ministry of Science and Art; in case of a positive evaluation, the applicants will receive a university entrance qualification for all German universities.
Access to studies after an artistic talent examination
Applicants without university entrance qualification must take an artistic talent examination as part of the admission process. It serves to determine outstanding artistic talent in the sense of § 60 (4) sentence 3 of the Hessian Higher Education Act.
The examination usually takes place 4 to 6 weeks before the start of the semester centrally at a study centre of the DIPLOMA University.

The distance learning programme Process and Product Design (B.A.) at DIPLOMA University is aimed at creative minds who want to design both consumer goods and industrial products. The goal of the programme is to empower students to explore interdisciplinary concepts and acquire a broad expertise in product design.
A central component of the programme is project work, which, through a specially developed remote modelling concept, enables haptic and physical product experiences even in distance learning. The study contents include creative design processes, economic know-how, 3D modelling, and rapid prototyping.
The programme comprises 180 ECTS credits and typically lasts 7 semesters part-time. The study contents are supplemented by optional (live online) seminars and online tutorials. Furthermore, elective modules offer the opportunity to specialise in specific areas such as 'Innovation, Product Design, and Digitality' or 'Space, Design, and Mobility'.
Graduates of the programme have various career opportunities, from starting their own agency to roles in companies or design agencies. Moreover, DIPLOMA University's degrees are nationally and internationally recognised, allowing graduates the opportunity to pursue a postgraduate master's programme afterwards.
